Dead motherboard?

My computer started acting up about two days ago, the only thing I have done recently is install a 8800gt.

I have a P5n-e sli mother board, e4300, kingston value ram, and a hyper 580 watt psu/ also vista os

At first it wouldnt come out of sleep mode and would have to get the power switch back and four a couple of times to the computer to turn on.

Now it wont even post. The fans will power up and it will beep one short beep and shut down.

I pulled everything tried to power up without the video card, at first I got a loud long beep, but now when I do it I dont get anything. When I pull the memory I get a different beep thats not as long as the video card missing beep use to be.

I assume the PSU is good because the fans spin. I cleared the cmos, and nothing.

The only thing I am seeing right now is that when I pull the video card, I am not getting an error beep. Which leads me to believe that the mobo is dead.

Any help, would be very nice.

Try clearing the cmos. But honestly, if you got beep codes after pulling your video card the first time and now you aren't, it sounds like your board might be the problem...
 
I cleared the cmos, and nothing!

On another note I cant remember where I bought this thing, what are some more on line computer parts stores beside tiger direct and newegg. I remember a green banner at the top of the page but cant remember the site.
 
Mostly I use:

I also use a few other places for random parts like cables and cooling bits. But if you're looking to replace a motherboard, start with the above. Wouldn't hurt to do more detailed searching once you're onto a specific model.
 
I was just trying to remember where I bought this one because ASUS wants the info to register the board, so I can try to RMA it.
 
Green banner doesn't ring any bells. Try looking at your bank records from around the time you got it?
 
Clearing the cmo's should have helped the problem, but since you said that it did not, it might be time to look further into your motherboard problems. What I mean is, you probably have to replace it

Thanks I did just that and found it was club it.

I just emailed ASUS for a RMA we will see what happens.

Anymore ideas?
 
nope, but i just installed an 8800gt and o boy what a day it has been. First my optical drive wasn't recognized.... after tearing the computer apart we got that fixed..... and now my mouse and keyboard are randomely going out and certain programs are closing themselves...... so your not alone :D
 
The fan on my 8800GT would spin at 100% forever. No signal to the monitor. No POST. Usually the fan on the GT would slow down after a couple of seconds, but that's not the case for me.

Apparently some 8800GTs have issues of dying. My computer went to standby, and wouldn't wake up!
 
My P35C-DS3R sometimes won't POST and just spins my 8800GT fan at 100% forever, if you leave it running like it for a few minutes then keep hard rebooting it it should eventually boot, mine does it and I am getting it sorted out with Gigabyte.
 
I know that PCI-e 2.0 is suppose to be backwards compatible with previous iterations of PCI-e technology, but I've tried my 8800GT in a P35, G33, and my G33 build. Doesn't budge.

RMA'd it today.
