Heres the situation:
Friend installs cold cathode, blows his el cheapo power supply. He buys a new power supply(antec 350 truepower) and plug everything back in. It works at first, then its as if the monitor isnt plugged in. He fiddles around with video card and that fixes it momentarily. It gets worse and worse(working less and less) until finally it just doesnt work.
He tries a different AGP card, and a PCI card, neither work. I took out the ram, unplugged all the ide cable, and took off all the pci cards and the motherboard just sat there, no bios, no beeping.
Shouldn't it be beeping if it has no ram?
My guess is the blowing of his old powersupply murdered his motherboard, but why would it slowly die out, and appear to be the agp port dying?
Any alternate suggestions b4 he buys a new motherboard.
Also, i'm gonna be replacing it. So I need some kind of thermal paste between the heatsink and his 800mhz PIII right?
Thankyou.
