So I get a text from my nephew tonight stating his PC "won't boot and there is nothing on the screen" First thought was VC, but I put the VC from his machine in mine and it booted just fine.

CPU fan is spinning. I unplugged the HDD and CD ROM drive no change.

The only things attached to the MB are 2 sicks of memory, the CPU fan and the PS. No POST beep but he is not sure it ever did. It doesn't have a speaker attached to the MB and plugging speakers into the speaker out on the backplane provides no POST beep

It's a Gigabyte AM3/AM2+ MB

Which is more likely, the MB or CPU?

I am leaning toward MB
