Hi,
Probably the usual failed HDD question. I use a thinkpad w500.
When I went to sleep and left my computer on it was fine. When I woke up today, it was okay with the exception of the display not going to sleep - i thought nothing of that and I don't really think it's relevant. When I came back around noon, the computer had turned off and the display lights indicating power/battery when it's plugged in wouldn't even turn on. I unplugged the power plug a couple times and it powered on but it won't boot, returning ERROR 2100 on boot.
When I try to boot, my HDD spins up and has a few mechnical clicks and continues to spin but is not recognized by the computer. It might be relevant, but my computer has been overheating quite a bit recently when doing anything graphic intensive so I suspect a loose heatsink over my gpu.
Is it possible that the HDD just has a damaged PCB, not mechanical error? How do i tell?
thanks!
