Well, looks like my laptop HDD is dead. The thing just stopped booting the other day and is now making clicking sounds. I took the drive out and put it in an external case and couldnt get windows to detect it. The clicking sounds are even louder in the case.
I went to Seagate's website to see if I could get it repaired and it said that since it was an OEM HDD I had to contact the manufacturer. I called up HP and they said the notebook is out of warranty. I had thought Seagate's HDDs had a 5 yr warranty and the lady just laughed at me. Now what should I do with the drive and is there any way I can get it repaired? If not, do you think there is any value for it? Plus how can I get my information off it if I do decide to sell it?
