I currently have two traditional hard drives in my system, a Seagate 2TB for documents and an old Seagate 500GB with media for Plex. Today, after noticing extremely slow transfer rates, I found that my 2TB drive is dying according to Seagates SeaTools. I am thinking of replacing both drives with a single 3-4TB. Any recommendations on brand/model?? HGST seems to be the most reliable but I didn't know which model would be best. It will only be storing local copies of cloud stored documents as well as media.

Does not really matter. The HGST models (except for the He series) are all pretty much the same with minor firmware differnces. The NAS models will work fine as a desktop drive. A say get the model that costs the least.

I went ahead and ordered a 2TB Red Drive because based on the data I'm currently storing, it'll be more than enough. HGST might have been a more reliable option but they're more expensive and they have way too many model numbers to process.
