Dead fan as shroud

If I clip the motor out of a busted fan, will it serve as an acceptable shroud?

Sure. Just clip the fan spider out or use a dremel.

Cool, I was looking to get a shroud, and had the misfortune of knocking a fin from one of my fans.
I hope to give it a new purpose, not merely discard it as garbage.
