Howdy all, just got a HIS X800 XL with the silencer pre-installed. Got it, loaded it up just fine. I visually verified the fan was working, then loaded up ATI tool to do some playing, it gave me fan control, it was listed at 34%, I set it to fix 100% to get an idea of the noise, everything locked up.

Now the damn fan doesn't work. Period. It does however report to ATI tool as being on, but i can look and see it isn't. Was hoping somebody knows of a nice easy trick to fix this or am i stuck RMA'ing?

while the computer is on, spin the fan with your finger. that should start it up.

Don't some fans have a problem with starting up when they are at peak voltage or something like that?

un bolt the fan from the heat sink on the back side there should be a sticker or something take it off and then you will see the inside of the fan where the bearing is get some motor oil and put a drop of it in there and spin the fan with your finger till the motor oil gets worked in then put it back on the heat sink. that method should work iv done it to 3 fans i had that were locked up and wouldnt spin and that fixed them.

hey guys, theres a short in the power line from the card to the fan, if i uncurl it from around the little guides and hold it a certain way its spins, I;m going to RMA cause i want a perfect card for $299.

Just thought i'd share what was up.

Good for you and dont accept a gay used one for replacement either.
