dead 9700 pro....9800 pro now?

my 97 just died and im able to get a 9800 pro 128mb for 150 through work. Am i going to see a big performance jump? Should i replace the stock heatsink on the 9800?

9700 pro to 9800 pro the performance jump will be hardly noticable and the hsf should be fine

it will be a jump but not 50% improvement or anything.. but u will notice it..

Go for a next generation card such as 6800 NU (about $250??)

Why waste money on the previous generation?

well, if you put another heatsink on there, you'll get higher clockspeeds on the core, but to truly reach the limits, you'd have to voltmod to truly take advantage of the heatsink.
In most games you should go up by 5-15 fps i believe, plus the overclock, whatever difference that adds on.

ummm ok.. hes getting a 9800pro for 150!! thats cheap .. he can upgrade from the 9800 to something better when he needs to but a 9800pro for 150 is sweet

all benchmarks show that a radeon 9800 pro is just a 9700pro with a 40Mhz core increase and a 30Mhz(DDR) memory increase....so 10% increase in performance...
