usually im pretty good at troubleshooting issues but ive hit brickwall with this one.
Im thinking 780 has died..

Recently i redone my watercooling loop. It was due for a good clean (running 2 years on same coolant) so i took it all apart and added another 240mm rad extra res - went with hard tubing etc.

Pc was running great for 5 days and after going to sleep mode in windows my display wouldn't turn on. (not just windows cant even see bios)

I have managed to get it to work on few occasions, once by pulling card out and placing it back in. this doesnt work any more, another time it worked by flashing my mobo bios to latest version (while using onboard CPU video).. i used this opportunity to flash videocard bios to F4 after rebooting i was back with same issue display wouldnt power up.

I have tried new spare 650w PSU as my corsair is good 7 years old, and my old 5870s work fine.

Ive had similar issue with gigabyte 5870s but bios update sorted that out.back in the day...

Not sure if it could be static damage, or just stupid gigabyte... i recall i had issues like this whilee back but it was only in windows i couldnt get it to display... motherboard bios update sorted that out.

Z87-DELUXE - 12xx, 16xx, now on 2103 bios version
HX1000 ( has been in 3 pc's since i bought it )
GV-N780OC-3GD (rev. 1.0) F3 bios updated it to F4
Ripjaw x 16gb
i7 4770k @ 4.8 1.350v

If the card is dead...not sure what to do.. go 970 HOF, 980 ti HOF, stay with old 5870 until Pascal. Dont mind even using onboard video until Overwatch comes out haha.

I'd RMA the 780 back to Gigabyte, pop in the 5870 till it comes back, and wait for Pascal.

I second that. I had to RMA a 6750 to Gigabyte and they repaired it and had it back to me quickly. I'd check to see if your 780 is still under warranty. If it is not, you can still send it to Gigabyte but they will charge to fix it, assuming it is repairable. Otherwise it sounds like you have tried the standard methods to get it working again. As a very last resort you could attempt a home oven fix, but in my experience the cards that trick fixes never last too long before failing again.

well it be nice checking in different pc.....but it does sound dead

Last 4 video ards were all gigabyte. Never again. Always at some stage ive had issues.

I dont think i can RMA it has waterblock on it. And missus accidentally threw out screws from stock fan. :(

contact them. worst they can say is no.

This sounds a lot like the issue I had with the 6750. I put a block on it and had everything working. Took the rig apart to add a drive, and it would not boot. I put the stock hsf on and it booted fine. So I put the block back on and no joy. Switched back to the hsf and it still would not give any video out.

I think there was a grounding issue. When I got it back from RMA it had different gaskets at the base of the screws holding the hsf on the card. I decided to leave it alone and just keep the stock hsf on. It has been working for a long while like that in my nephew's PC.

Hmm thats interesting, mine has been working fine with block for years might try to baked mine as last resort, just noticed i purchased 780 in Dec 2013.. spewing.

so randomly started working again, rest pc still worked.. turned it off and back on anddd no go.

I might keep trying again and once it workss.. no more shutting down until pascal is out LOL.

I really need new PSU fan..

Could it be due to bending of the PCB too much from the block? I'm not a water guy so I have no idea how they even mount but I assume it's pressure-based screw-down from the back of the PCB. Since you mention redoing the water I assume you removed the block and reattached it. Maybe it's too tight/too much pressure against the GPU?

Pull the card clean the card good remount the block and try another slot if you have one

I did take waterblock off and inspected the board for any dry joints / cracks. That waterblock is damn heavy and i havent used backplate. Couldnt justify 50$ at the time.

Ill have to undust my old gen 2 i7 pc. Try how it goes in there. Weird thing is when monitor displays works, it works fine even flexing the board in pc does not drop the display.

Issue seems restricted just to powering up on start up or waking up from sleep.
