Does anyone know when DDRII will be used with Athlon 64 processors? I'm guessing it will have to be for nForce 4, but people are saying that it won't come out with nForce 4. Will DDRII have to wait until K9? Since the memory controller is integrated, won't they have to redesign it to accept DDRII?

The memory controller of the K8 is integrated, so DDRII won't be used with it for a long time, if at all. This is however not a problem, as it is the same memory controller which reduces latency, making a K8 perform at least as well with memory benchmarks as an Intel CPU with DDRII.

Yeah, they would have to redo the memory controller.

But DDR2 is so slow right now that it will probably be a year till its fully up to its potential? :(

Buying a new system to get up to date with PCI-express, DDR2 etc.is a waste of money right now. It will take a long time untill these technologies are going to be at their prime. So buy an AMD64 system now with DDR memory and just wait. A new system now will last you long enough time for DDR2 and PCI-E to start raping :)
