Hello

i have a problem

i have 4 sticks of ddr400 ram (2 of them are the same and i can dual channel them) 3 of them run at 400mhz and the other runs at 333mhz. i am currently running vista and i need to know what would give the best performance.

would it be better for me to stick the 2 identical sticks in dual channel, and take out the one stick running at 333, or should i leave the 2 identical sticks in dual channel, with the 333 stick in as well?

which would give me better performance?

thanks

Either all DDR modules run at 333mhz ddr or 400mhz ddr, 3 can't run at 400mhz ddr and the third run at 333mhz ddr, they'll either all drop to the slowest speed, or go to the highest speed (333mhz ddr module will up to 400mhz ddr).

So you might have a false reading somewhere.

thats what i'm getting at.

should i let them all run at 333 speeds and have 2 of them in dual channel.

or should i take out that 333 stick and have the rest of the running at 400?

Run all four @ 333mhz ddr, more ram, the better, especially in vista.

Vista has a way of improving stability/performance in due time while it calculates your you use your programs on a daily basis.

I would rather try to overclock and see if those particular 333mhz ddr modules you have, can run at 400mhz ddr, more than likely yes.

I believe with having the 4sticks of ram you will be running at 333mhz with 2T timing which is ok but if I was you I would try to eventually buy 2 1gig sticks of ram so you can run them at 400mhz with 1T timing.
