Hi there, i am an avid Battlefield 3 player and the last few weeks my system always crashed to desktop after exactly the same few seconds or minutes in the game. i was baffled by the problem, thought it was the grfx card(gtx 580), cleaned and reinstalled the drivers etc..had an overclock of several months of my i7 930 from 2.8 ghz to 3.8 gz, so downclocked it to 3.33 and enabled hyperthreading back. reinstalled punkbuster....nothing helped! As a last resort i upped my ddr voltage from 1.54 V to 1.6v and BAM!!, problem solved!!! So my question is now, how come suddenly my ram needs extra voltage??? is it "worn" by the previous overclocks, or is it because it is summer & the temperatures are higher that i suddenly have the increase the voltage to get stability? why only in battlefield i had the problem and not in another game???? im so very curious about this anyone know???

Higher temps can tip the balance of how much voltage is needed.
Higher temps also make components age faster so it could be a combination.
A bad contact could do the same as well, if the air has been damp, its possible something needs a clean.
Perhaps battlefield pushes your memory harder than other games you play.

Thx 4 the reply Nenu! Yeah air has been terribly damp laterly , i was on the verge of giving up and throwing my pc out the window lol. pc's can be baffling and hair-rising sometimes omfg. does this mean that i have to increase voltage slowly from now because of heat it wears ,till something definitely breaks and i need a new pc or component(s) ?

Its possible you will need higher voltage throughout the hotter weather.
To counter it, I would blow a small PC fan at the memory and also check if anything else is getting hot by testing with your hand.
ie the memory is getting hotter and you are now having to feed more voltage to it, making it even more hot.
Both of these make it wear out quicker, a fan will help and may even do enough to let you reduce the voltage back down.
Excess heat is the nemesis of electronics.
As you have had a lot of damp weather, try taking the memory out, cleaning the contacts of the memory only and seeing if anything changes.
Dont clean the socket, it can easily be damaged.
