What are we thinking the price trends will be for DDR3 as DDR4 is released?
Will they continue to rise?

For instance, if I were thinking that 8GB is enough for now, but I might need 16GB in the future... would it be best to just purchase 16GB now? Or wait for prices to drop?
(For those who can recall, in 2011, DDR3 prices were 1/3 what they are now.)

For those curious:
I am in the process of constructing a HTPC/Server type box using a Pentium Anniversary chip. I'm getting away with a really cheap build so far:
MSI Z97 U3 Plus LGA 1150 USB 3.0 ATX Motherboard + Intel Pentium G3258 Dual-Core CPU -- $100
CORSAIR CS450M 450W 80 PLUS GOLD -- Free After $30 Rebate
4GB should be plenty right now, but I wonder if I should just buy 8GB.

I expect that the price of DDR3 will go up after DDR4 is released. Although DDR4 will still cost more than DDR3 that is until DDR4 becomes mainstream in 2016. At that point the price of DDR4 will trend down with DDR3 trending up.

Buy now. DDR3 will only continue to rise, just look at DDR2.

Word. Stings just a bit knowing that about a year ago I bought 3 16GB kits for like $80 a piece, brand new, from NewEgg. Now I'd be lucky to get them for $140. What a joke.

About 2 years ago I bought 24gb of DDR3 for $30 from Fry's. Granted, it was 1333 mhz CAS 9 1.65v, but I am able to run it at 1333 mhz CAS 8 1.425v.
