Looking for some good high performance ram for gaming. Ill throw up some names and prices (in Canadian dollars) and hopefully you can tell me if its a good price/good quality memory.

CORSAIR TWI2X1024-5400C4 PC2-5400 DUAL CHANNEL 2X512MB DDR2 - BLACK HEATSPREADER 675mhz... $139.40

Corsair TWINX Dual Channel 1024MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2x512MB) ... $126.99

CORSAIR TWIN2X1024-5400C4PRO PC2-5400 DUAL CHANNEL 2X512MB DDR2 - PRO SERIES 675mhz ... $180.68

OCZ Dual Channel Special Ops XTC 1024MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory (2 x 512MB)... $139.99

OCZ EL Dual Channel 1024MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Gold Memory (2 x 512MB)...$161.99

So you can see my price range! About 0 - 180 maximum.

Tell me which you think I should get for gaming, and if there is one you want to suggest thats not up there, link me!

Thanks in advance

Well Im only prepared to buy 1 gig of ddr2 right now, so please, tell me what is wrong with the ones i said in the first post.

What determines good ram?

CAS Latency:
Timing:
Voltage:
ECC:
Buffered/Registered:

the problem with them is they're all 2x512mb kits. i wouldn't spend more than $80 on a 2x512mb kit. seriously.. especially for gaming.

Hmm ok makes sense.

Can you guys point out some really good quality ram but for a cheap price. Not newegg please, because many prices on that site are after rebates or whatnot and the thing is they dont ship to Canada, so Ive been looking mainly at and vibecomputers.com tigerdirect.ca

Also, Right now i dont have the cash to go get a new processor and im stuck with an socket 775 intel p4 3.6 with ht and 800mhz fsb. Will this restrict the ram if I were to buy 6400 800mhz and beable to run at its full capacity? (Yes my mobo will support it, but im wondering if the processor will keep it from working at highest quality/preformance.

$20 more for double the memory before rebates? TBH i think its more than worth it considering you are most definatly going to be bumping into that 1GB barrier with new games and programs.

with or without rebate... that's pretty good.

or with a different color HS and lower CAS latency for $206. Games and AMD processors, notably, will see an increase in performance.

i usually go with Corsair XMS but OCZ has never done me wrong.
