finally upgrading from my s939 fx-55 to the q9550 (can't justify spending so much on the i7) and i have a few questions before i purchase memory. I'm looking at getting 2x2gb (still running xp, might get another 2x2gb when upgrading to vista/windows 7) but im not sure what speed i want to get.

Currently im looking at ddr2 800:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145194
for its low price and low latency.

If my calculations are correct, the q9550's fsb is running at 333 (before the multi) and ddr2 800 is running at 400, so overclocking the cpu to a 1:1 ratio with mem would equal 3.4ghz. If my goal is 3.6, should i be looking at ddr2 1066? or will the ddr2 800 get past 400mhz?

thanks in advance

DDR2 900 would probably be perfect, but it's hard to find RAM with those speeds. Newegg only lists a G.Skill and a Patriot brand.

If you get DDR2 1066, I suppose you could underclock them. Not sure if there would be a benefit to that.

Get these and forget about ram overclocking border, im actually debating on getting them to replace my cas 4 p1 sticks.

Only 11 bucks over if you include the corsair rebate.
