So I threw in my new Ballistix and set the voltage to 2.2V

I ran 1002Mhz, and everything seemed fine. I booted into Windows, and began an Orthos test. I just wanted to see how hot the sticks would get, so after about 5 minutes, when they began to get hot, I stopped the test.

I decide to throw my Patriots back in, so I reset (wanted to go into bios and change speeds/voltages) but all I get is a black screen. I turn it off, and on, and still a black screen. I did hear a beep so I new the board was alive, but didn't know what was going on. I removed one stick, and let the computer sit, thinking maybe that the fact the NB was on fire may have been causing this (burned my finger when touched the NB during the stress test).

A few minutes later, I turn it on, and get it to post. I go into the bios, and check up on the PC Health Status, and DDR18V - FAIL. The 3.3V and 12V lines were reading "OK".

Is this a PSU issue?

nice...

what type of ram did you get that high? 5300, 6400, 8000, 8500.. theres a lot of crucial ballistix out there.

Can you boot up with the cheapy patriot ram in there.

This RAM (In the SPD 500Mhz is listed for 5-5-5-15 timings)

I read up a bit more and found out the problem was because 2.2V was outside of the DS3's "safe DDR2 voltage" and that's why it listed as fail.

As to why it had problems booting - I'm not sure yet. Maybe just the DS3 being a DS3.
