Hello all,

I searched the forums, and was unable to find anything covering my specific question. However, I may have missed something; so I apologize in advance if I am repeating a question.

How much of a difference does RAM timing make?

All else being equal that is... voltage, capacity, type, etc.

How much faster would a set of, say: 5-5-5-15 be than a set of 7-8-7-24 or 9-9-9-24?

Thank you in advance! :D

In the real world there is very little difference (1% to 3%) from the slowest timings to the fastest if the frequency is the same. In memory benchmarks you sometimes can see a much bigger difference.

5-5-5-15 is probably DDR2 while 7-8-7-24 or 9-9-9-24 look like DDR3. DDR3 generally have higher frequency ram with higher timings but those higher timings are probably a little faster than DDR2 anyways since the clocks are faster.

Yeah, that's true, I forgot about the 5-5-5-15 being DDR2.

So if understand right, you want 7's for DDR3 if possible, but if you end up with a Cas of 9, it's not the end of the world.
