DDR memory, more system specific than DDR2/DDR3?

Hi, I was just wondering if older DDR memory modules were more picky on which systems they work on. I want to upgrade an old computer to 2GBs up from 256MB so I can put Windows 7 on it and make it much quicker for basic use. The system is an HP Pavilion a1530e.

Also noticing that there are no windows 7 drivers listed even though there is an option for this computer. I was planning to wipe it and bring it to W7. Where can I get these drivers? Asus has denied support for the board (already contacted) and no response from HP yet as well.

These motherboard drivers should work for 32 bit windows 7

That Mushkin will work fine with a 939 chip
