I'm a lifetime member, paid $15 for it. We discuss weird weird things like how a grilled cheese tastes...

Thats my kind of comedy . id prefer that to the other version of Genmay...the flaming and retardation get anoying fast...

But i myself dont have a paypal account or anything so id have to have my mom get it for me and im not sure she would....though my birthday is comming up so she just might

I'd actually go the cheaper route and get the Xbox/PS2 version with some really, really good dancepads. For instance, at our local Fry's Electronics you can buy some sweet metal dance pads for ~$100 each. (I think... not so sure on price.) You can have the same experience for a fraction of the price and it's portable.

Sorry to say it, but it's definitely NOT the same experience as on the true arcade. There is no way to completely emulate a ddr arcade machine (unless your'e REALLY skilled then power to you). First of all, the speakers have neon lights which light up with every beat, or bass thump, or watever it's called (you know how the beats in techno songs go....UHMP UHMP UHMP with a tsss in between). There are also overhead lights that are also in sync with the beat. But the only problem I have with the ddr machine is that the screen is so damn small! I prefer the PUMP machines because the screen is nice...but the steps are wierd unless you turn pro.

Hehe my legs still give out 3/4ths of the way on Maxx Unlimited heavy, then again I don't practice that song often. I'm practically pro at the DDR series, the only songs i can't do are the ones that you have to turn your body around because it's hard to memorize, especially with fast songs like afronova on heavy And you know what song I absolutely hate on DDR.....Secret Rendezvous on Heavy mode......talk about being totally off beat and just...stupid lol

heh, thats what I used to do... i'd go to the arcade and play max 300, max unlimited and exotic ethnic or something like that...

I'd say I was a decent ddr player, I could get an A on max 300 and AA most 8 footers... however the tournament crowd around here in south carolina is pretty intense... quite a few AAA's for quite a few songs...

and I agree IIDX rocks.. doesn't work you out at all (except mentally) but i find it to be so much more fun than ddr... the amount of coordination and thought that it takes to do some of those songs are pretty amazing... I can do *most* standard songs and about half of the 'other' songs on any given mix... but damn its fun and hard...

True, true. If you're a true fan, then only the original will do. But if you need lights turning on and off to the beat, then you're only $10 and a trip to Radio Shack away from getting the same thing.

Max300 averages about 10-11 arrows/second. Just run in places as fast as you can for 1.5 minutes. The people that can AA/AAA this song are typically very fit. I don't care if you have it memorized or not..it still takes alot of energy to do. I've heard this song compared to doing the 1/2 mile in a full sprint....and it does make sense.

I think the most arrows per second would be between 4 and 6 arrows. 10-11 its just impossible, no matter how fast you are....I mean just imagine doing 11 steps in a second! That's basically the Flash territory. The people I've seen perfect this song are people who use the handle bars on the machine. It makes it a lot easier on urself because the bars remove the weight you would otherwise have to carry throughout the whole song.

yeh, me getting an A on max 300 (came close to a AA once) requires me to use the bar... (i can almost do it without the bar but its painful)

and i think my best score is probably getting 4 greats on freckles... (no goods, misses anything else just perfects)

i've got an xbox with ultramix 1 / 2 and an ignition pad that i got from redoctane.com for 100 bucks. they carry the ignition pads at the local gamestop here for the same price. i would recommend getting an ignition pad and nothing less if you plan on playing at home, they are very very nice pads. one of my friends made the jump and bought one a few months ago and we had just been playing on cheap ass soft pads before that. after we tried his out everyone i know who plays and can do songs on heavy bought the ignition. The better pad doesn't make a whole lot of difference untill you get to being able to do songs on heavy/some of the harder standard songs.

i haven't heard much about the metal pads except that the sensors that tell the pad where you're stepping underneath of the buttons will fall off with repeated use and you have to repair them. as i understand it, following direction that can be found on various websites, building your own pad is the best way to go for metal pads. i have also heard that metal pads made by http://www.cobaltflux.com/ are better than the arcade pads, but they run 500 bucks a pair.

I didn't 'spect to see a DDR thread in here.

I haven't played in a while, mostly because I am on the second floor in my place, and all my DDR buddies left SD. I used to play a lot in the bowling alley in Lemon Grove.

If I were to buy an arcade machine, it would be Hokuto no Ken. Or any game where you can really punch stuff. When I was in Japan, they had a whole section for those kinds of games. Thought I was in heaven.

it is great for practicing songs though.. stuff like exotic ethnic and max 300 (the only bitch is theres no handle to hold on to so you really have to support your entire body weight through the faster songs)

Thats why it would be awesome to have a DDR machine AT your house.

Do, forgot a divide by 2 in my equation...the 5-6 is correct. My apologies for misinformation. I believe there are a few people in the US who can AA/AAA MAX300 style songs w/o the bar.

Because realism isn't exactly what I'm going for? Gran Turismo doesn't have much of a competitive online rankings thing like Initial D does, there's no good arcade version of it.

Initial D is one the most realistic arcade games...Don't compare it to the PS2 version because that one's crap.
