So I just learned the hard way that Danger Den's "Summit" waterblock for Radeon HD 5850 and 5870 doesn't fit on Diamond's 5850. (Diamond model no. 5850PE51G.)

The waterblock collides with the capacitors circled in cyan, and even if that weren't the case, I'm not sure the waterblock would reach over the caps and inductors circled in yellow.

A warning to all y'all looking to buy and watercool a 5850....

So can anyone recommend a waterblock that will fit?

Nice find. The aquagratiX will definitely fit. Kinda expensive though, mostly for the shipping from Germany to the US. (€67.14 + €34.90 shipping = €102.04 = US$135.35.) Slow, too: "Estimated lead time 14 days" it says, and then the transoceanic shipping time.

I've sent a message to the e-tailer I bought the card from. At the time I wasn't aware of the aquagratiX and decided it'd be easier to get a new card that works with the Summit than to get a new block that works with this card. If their answer is "no" then I'll be ordering an aquagratiX. Sending on a Saturday morning, though, I'll have to wait the maximum time for that answer....

try contacting shoggy on xs forum. he's a great guy from aquagrfx in germany. maybe he can help you.

ZipZoomfly wants to charge me a $42 restocking fee to return the card. F*k that. The aquagratiX might be my only option.

Maybe. Going by the photo of its contact side, the EK-FC5870 V2 for Asus V2 cards looks like a good contender to fit. Can anyone confirm or deny that? I suppose I should start a new thread, to grab the attention of any Asus V2 card owners...

After further image comparisons, never mind. The EK block will (probably) clear the caps circled in yellow but not the caps circled in cyan.
