DC Vault

Sure, why not - with the 17 BOINC projects I'm currently running, that would only be 85 systems... take away the 3 I have currently going, and only 82 to go! No problem!

Especially If I slap triple 295s in each for folding... Wait, I need money? Why?

Since you're so enthusiastic, don't forget a couple cores each for Eon, Community TSC, D2OL - Sengent, Prime Sierpinski Problem - PRP,Prime Sierpinski Problem - Sieve, SoB, SoB-Sieve, and Wieferich@Home. Thanks, glad you can help!

Heads up, SHA-1 is out of work. I just checked in on my parents computer and note that it's been trying to get work for the past 4 hours without success.

They could just be having server problems. There web page (although better now) has been very slow or even timing out most of this morning and early afternoon. My WUs uploaded pretty slowly today as well. Of course all this is just pure speculation on my part. :)

Did you get an e-mail back from them?
I tried twice to create an account with Eon but no reply.
No, because I've never received work for them. I've had the client running for about 3 weeks now but it just sits there trying to download work.

Thanks to the help of metallicafan, alan2308, and the mysterious tr0ach, we're picking up steam in Wieferich@Home. We just reached #23 for the halfway mark (5000 points) in DC Vault, and we should pass four more teams in the next few days.

If we can overtake Team Japan, which should take less than 2 weeks, that will give us over 6000 points in the vault.

I'm still trying to get Euler to generate points, but no luck yet.

Good luck with that. EulerNet is a very troublesome project to get to work.

If anyone figures out a magic way to make this work reliably please post it for the rest of us.

I just started my parents machine on Einstein@Home while I wait for more SHA-1 to become available.

So tonight after the RC5-72 points update I go look and see what I hauled in today and what do you know - nodda, goose egg, 0.
24 hours of running the DNet Cuda v2.9103.509 (beta) and many many results turned in and I got 0 points.

Yeah, I was wondering what happened to everyone. :( mfl0p and I were the only ones with dnet points on both projects tonight.

I received an email from dnet about the issue.

We have discovered that there is a bug in our stats tabulation code. The code we have counts each packet as one unit for stats purposes. We will be correcting the bug and re-tabulating the affected logs shortly.

Kind regards,

Mike

So it looks like they will get this corrected so I guess I'll let it run. :) I guess it will be a good psychological boost when we net like 30K+ in one day!:D

@Sazan - Nice job on the W@home man. I noticed that we were moving up a little. i have 2 PT's that should finish overnight so that should be another nice boost. Keep up the good work guys. We should be able to jump Team USA and get into 18th place pretty easy in the next day or two.

My current addiction is watching the graph at the bottom of this page. Look at that slope!

I broke down and ordered XP Pro x64 and some more RAM. Then I'll be able to put four more cores on W@H. If Newegg ships from NJ instead of CA, I should be up and running by the weekend.

I wish Wieferich had a Linux client. :(

lol and i thought i was bad sitting here watching DIMES and playing around with the graph when i was bored... :p

How is the network utilization of Dimes and Majestic-12? I've been avoiding these "ping the net" projects because of their warnings about bandwidth. I don't want to get my broadband cut off, but on the other hand I've been running bittorrent with no problems.

Dimes uses almost no cpu time and almost no bandwidth.
MJ-12 uses up a little cpu time and a lot of bandwidth (this can be adjusted in client) but gets out of the way if I try to upload or download and web surfing is unaffected.
With 3x Dimes and 2x MJ-12 running 24/7 I'm waiting for my cable modem to melt down.:D

DIMES doesnt use crap for bandwidth.. ive been running it for 2 weeks now and its only used 100mb and that was also me doing level 4 scanning on websites to get extra ip addresses.. so id guess just the program alone maybe 50mb.. you can also set how fast it pings.. fastest is 15 seconds which i have it at.. and can set it to 2 minutes or some crap..

but i have it running on 3 systems.. but i already max out my bandwidth anyways.. pos comcast.. this month ive already hit 485 gigs.. last month 460 month before that 510.. and before they started the limit i was avging twice that :p and until they warn me ill keep using the bandwidth..

now its time to add Majestic-12 so i can continue to piss off comcast..

ok i can officially agree.. if you have a bw limit with an isp that actually does their job and stands by that limit.. do not use majestic-12 because after 3 hours ive already used 1.1gigs worth of bandwidth..

The infamous tr0ach, whoever he is, has made his presence known on Lattice. Thanks tr0ach! :D

...and we just cracked the top 20 teams on Wieferich@Home! Overall we're looking pretty good, with almost all DC Vault projects scoring above 5000.

Up to #44 after another big jump in The Lattice Project.

This is great!

I have 1200+ points pending in uFluids. When they register we should get a small bump there.

Someday when I'm King of all DCing, my first act will be to get rid of all pending points. You know, I was the first to finish a Lattice Project unit, but yet I still don't have a single point on the board there? I haven't done any work for SZTAKI in over a week, but still have over 800 points pending there? Its madness!

\Rant

lucky me.. i have no pending points.. but im sure ill have a pissed off isp soon.. :p but screw em..

Primegrid is a good project for you guys to throw up some big points fast. If you run a 64bit OS set your preferences to just do AP26 wu's. These will give you 13.61 point each and take about 15mins to complete(on any decent comp).

I lover the Lattice Project, wish there was more work available though. :(
I gleaned out the Lattice Project units that wouldn't get credited or stuck in limbo of pending and left myself with 15 of them which half have all ready completed the other side of the quorum.
How many do you have left?

How many do you have left?
None left in queue, pending credit on three for 1905 total.

On another note, Lars, the PRP/PSP admin, will be back from Munich on Friday and will be setting us up then.

I have 3,810 points pending and enough to keep one machine busy untill the units deadline Feb 14th.

Yeah I seen his post today. I'll be turning in another sieve in about 30 minutes (yes I'll do it the right way this time - LOL).

Looks like they are trying to fix the RC5-72 stats tonight since it says "stats are unavaliable"

Has anyone looked at this one yet? It uses no CPU and only 6MB memory, running alongside a CPU project. 6 points every 30 min. Looks like a nice way to pad your overall BOINC total. :D

FreeHAL@home is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to parse and convert big open source semantic nets for use in FreeHAL, an artificial intelligence that uses semantic networks, stemmers, part of speech databases, and part of speech taggers, in order to imitate a very close human behavior within conversations.

Bummer.

29-Jan-2009 21:17:05 [FreeHAL@home] Message from server: new FreeHAL alpha is not available for your type of computer.

No way.

I'm not going to have my computer trying to kill me...... and I can reach the electric cord just fine.

Well thats great looks like we just lost the last 10 days worth of all of our RC5-72 points.
http://stats.distributed.net/team/tmember.php?project_id=8&team=24958

Well thats not good. I think I had more points before they "fixed" it. Even with only 1 point in the last two days.

Looks like its time to go update my trouble ticket. If they truly would have fixed it I should have had like a 12K point dump tonight.

EDIT - It looks like the points are still going up. Maybe they are still calculating.

EDIT2 - Yep, They are going back and going through the days. Looks like they are on Jan 24th now and counting. :) Good to see they are going to get this right.

English is their secondary language, so it's hard to see too much detail about their work. Hopefully it's more than an overly ambitious chatbot. I'm very curious as to what is happening without any CPU usage.

Edit: Still on FreeHal. metallicafan sneaking in on another topic. :D

If the Project Administrator can't say if/when new work is coming, I wouldn't hold my breath. Phase 3 has been pending for 4 months now.

Okay, then here's the silver lining - per DC Vault rules, once a project like this goes dead, won't they look into removing and replacing it? If they do, everyone with points in it will lose those, and we'll move up by default... :D

No way.

It's only a little preliminary work on bringing Skynet live, why fight the inevitable? Its not like your computer is going to personally kill YOU. :D

So you think if we nominated tr0ach for [H]DCotM, we'll finally figure out who he is? He'll have to do the interview, after all... :D
