DC FS/FT rule change suggestion

As hardfolding.com has reliability track record that is far from perfect,
I'd like to suggest that DC FS/FT allows attaching any badge (EOC,
Kakao, whatnot) that depicts donor's name, team and points.

In practice, this has been the case off an on for the last 2 years or so, just never got put into writing.

So, how about we put it in writing like tear suggested.
 
sure... why not... the EOC sigs can be customized a bit.... just no [H]'s

+1 on this, it might be good if there was a brief description on how to do this for us folks that like guides
 
I also second this notion; but I'd also like to ask who maintains the hardfolding site? Maybe they need some help?

Create new bookmark
Name it whatever will help you remember what it is
in the address of the bookmark, goes the above code
Open a browser tab to your EOC stats.
Identify your stat ID it should be the last number in the address (mine is 126242)
Change 126242 to be your stat ID
Change jfb9301 to your stat username for folding
Change the 33 (dunno why you would) to your team

side note: colors are adjusted by:

&c1=A0A0A0&c2=303030&c3=303030&c4=AA00AA&c5=A0A0A0


c1 = Default Text Color
c2 = Background Body Color
c3 = Background Header Color
c4 = Border Color
c5 = Override Text Rank Colors

The numbers are 3x 2digit hex for each color like RRGGBB.
Tweek for taste. I make a stats image in the sig test thread and then ween back and edited the code until I got the colors correct and then pasted the color code into my bookmark.

I'm not gonna take the bait.

We just need to get the right person to paste what I wrote into the how to threads. Or they could just write their own. I don't really care one way or the other, but AFAIK the how to threads are locked, and I don't have the key.
 
I don't have a problem allowing that, but we need to come up with a specified format for our forums. I don't like all the ugly ass contrasting colors. So put some solutions together, you guys can pick your faves, then I will sign off on ONE that can be used team wide so we have consistency.
 
Kicking the server would, similarly, be a half-measure.

Compared to EOC, [H]|F is quite inefficient and not very compelling; drawbacks include:
- each update taking 1h+
- stats inaccessible during updates
- frequent "database problems"

[H]|F is in need of some serious TLC, the way I see it.

Anyone have any experience in making a site similar to what is going and could possibly help KingN with the site?
 
I have to say i'm with w.feather on this, whilst changing to EOC badges is OK, [H] folding is our home and stats site so if we can help to fix/improve it then i say we should
 
I can dip my finger into it if Kyle allows it.

Im a coder for a living, so I can take a few minutes here and there and fix it up

(ColdFusion, PHP, JavaScript, SQL)
 
I can offer code/architecture review and algorithmic consult.
 
We need a badge system that works. The EOC badges work, but I would just as soon see [H]ard|Folding fixed.

I dunno what happened to King, he seemed to fade away over the last few years. I do like some of the unique graphs that HF used to provide (as they've been broken for a couple months now). Even if we could get it working, it still could use an improvement or two. We've run out of new [H]'s as they don't update after 70M (I think) and a large number of people have exceeded what was once an astronomically large number. And adjust color coding for PPD. EOC has a working color code, but you make red at a fairly low number. On HF, lets crank up the hardness a touch on that. Maybe throw some pimp hats in for those of us who have earned them. Our login and profile feature is so broken I haven't updated my info in over 5 years. But if we get that working, possibly, we could add links to HDCOTM and [H]orde Spotlight interviews.

Just some brain storming.

I really don't bring much HTML or anything to the table that others don't have already, but I'd be glad to help in my free time.
 
I personally prefer the hard folding badges to the EOC ones , look wise. So yes, if we could get hardfolding fixed, it would probably be better that way....
 
I've also got some php experience, I'd be willing to work with someone on this. I definitely don't have time for it until Fall semester, though, my summer course is eating my free time.

We need to get ahold of Kyle to start this than and see if we can at least HELP with the issue.
