dav-fx10 & creative SB x-fi

I have a Sony dav-fx10 5.1 surround home theatre. My PC has creative SB x-fi sound card.
I recently ran a coaxial cable from the DIGITAL OUT of the sound card to the home theatre input. It works fine.
But the problem is that when I start testing using the creative software for the sounds for CHANNEL testing and POLARITY testing the sounds always come from the FRONT LEFT /RIGHT speakers. My REAR LEFT/RIGHT seem to be quiet. How do I fix this issue?

You can't test the surround channels over spdif, since the signal would have to be encoded.

so is there a way to go around it?

use a Dvd movie or a audio or movile file that been encoded in 5.1 . Creative XFI cant encode on the file. it only has hardware decode.
