Last night we moved back to a full 32-bit database environment. (We had to moved to full 64-bit software.) Everything seems to be working fine as of the last four hours. Should we show everything to remain stable, we will start working on bringing back in all the lost post, tweaks, and features we previously implemented.

Nice to hear this. I wonder why going to 64 bits caused so much grief ?

Sheesh, I thought 64-bit would have proven to be a better choice than 32. Guess it's not in your case. =\

We do not know that is the cause. We spent literally thousands of dollars with MySQL "experts" that could not identify the issue with MySQL and it repeatedly crashing. We are moving back to our tried and true software on the new hardware.

Hope they use your money to hire actual experts or for reimbursing their upcoming tuition. :p

Blasphemy, MySQL is far better than any other DB solution, ever!!!111!!

Strange that 64 bit software would cause the issue but hell, if the 32 bit revert fixes it, I'm not complaining.

I do think it is ironic though that shortly after you mention that the forums are actually turning a profit nowadays, the servers crash and you spend thousands of dollars trying to fix them. Thats some bad karma.

My highly informed opinion is that all those extra bits were getting caught in the machinery.

Man, I really would be pissed at the "experts" but it's good to know you managed to get it working again. <3.

You mean the quick reply I so dearly loved? :(

Quick reply was fine, but I didn't like the member longevity display location. I'm sure there are numerous better choices for it. Next to our ranks distracts from them.

Agreed.

I didn't really like the whole idea of it anyway. After all, you are not your UID.

so will we lose all the post we have made SINCE the roolback?

Or will they just be kept in addition to the lost posts?

If its going to be too much effort and we lose all present posts since the roll back...
I say just move on. (Besides i'll have to re-re-register)
But if we can get those posts back without consequence...then party and do it!

Seems like a lot of folks trying to work with 64 bit stuff have problems. Starting to think it isn't quite ironed out yet.

I keep getting page timeouts....anyone else, or is it on my end?

I get problems every once in awhile too. I'm guessing 64-bit was not the problem.

Man, I feel sorry for the [H] crew as they try to deal with the infamous invisible bug. I know the feeling. You change something, and things stop working. The code is fine, the hardware is fine, the network is fine, but it still doesn't work. Something, somewhere, is wrong, but you cannot find it. Even experts who charge thousands of dollars cannot figure out why your semmingly flawless setup is crashing. Finally, you roll back so that everything is the same as it was before the change, and it still doesn't work. I know how extremely frusturating that can be. I'm guessing it is also quite embarassing when you, the owners of a tech forum, have to issue a public plea for help with your database.

All I can say is I hope this gets fixed soon. Obviously you guys have done everything you can possibly do and are down to more or less guessing at what the problem is (i.e. 64-bit). I just hope you hit that "well there's your problem!" moment soon and get everything back in order. The forums seem to be okay right now. Hopefully adding the extra features won't cause it to crash again.

Thanks for all the work you guys do to keep this forum running free for us. Some may complain, but they don't realize how much time you have already spent trying to fix this. Once again, thanks for trying and I hope it works now.

Oh, and try not to change anything ever again, okay? :p

I love you guys, and feel horrible but... I gotta say something

Pages are currently taking FOREVER to load, it deon'ts seem to be a problem on my end as everything else seems to be coming up instantly :/

I feel horrible for you guys...

Seems to be VERY speedy tonight. Was getting "Page cannot be displayed" a lot yesterday and earlier today. Tonight, it is super quick, no wait time. I love it.
