Short story is: Built new computer with new sata drive to use as my primary drive. I put my old IDE drive in the system so I could copy things from it to the new drive once I had windows installed. Well I was retarded and accidentally deleted the old drives partition when I was setting up windows xp. I'm back up and running, but of course the old drive has nothing on it (it also only reads as 127GB even though its a 200gb drive). The drive isnt damaged in any way, it just had the partition(s) deleted.
Is there any free software that can help me with retrieving the data?

Thanks

Install SP2 before you work with it. Then try GetDataBack ($79).

if you just nuked the partitions then active partition recovery will do the trick

Before you try any destructive approach, try Acronis data recovery software. It will copy whatever it can see on the unreadable drive (from within windows) to another blank drive or drive with free space. You do need a running copy of windows - if that was your OS drive you could take it to another computer or put it in an external USB/FW/eSATA enclosure and use the recovery software there.
I've had very good luck with this approach.

try Acronis data recovery software.
AFAIK, Acronis doesn't have data recovery software, only back-up software.
OP, spend the money for GetDataBack. I'm sure you'll have more than one occasion to use it. :D
