Data not spreading across drives (WHS)

A couple months ago I had a 2TB drive die on me, I had duplication turned on so all of my files were fine so I didn't lose anything other than the drive. I had (2) 2TB drives in the system and removed them both when the one drive died, in order to do this I had to turn off duplication. As soon as the replacement drive came back I replaced both 2TB drives but almost immediately started getting space errors. I've left file duplication off and have removed the 2TB drives so right now I've got a 7.42TB system with 2.3TB's free and have a consistent warning that the majority of free space is on one drive, I installed the "disk management add-on" and see that my OS drive is full. How do I go about getting all the data leveled out across the drives and can I remove all the stored data from my OS drive?

I downloaded and installed this drive balancer but it keeps giving me an error saying that there is not enough space on the disk.

I'm honestly pretty lost here, the only thing I can think of doing is to move all the data on the server to other hard drives and starting all over again with a fresh OS install, maybe get WHS '11?

You screwed up when you turned off duplication.

You'll probably have to move all the data out of the Mass Storage and install empty drives and rebuild the system. You can then move data in to the new storage space. If you would have left duplication on, as long as you had 2 or more drives in the system you should have been fine and adding additional drive is just as easy.

Bah! :mad: Alright, that's kind of what I was thinking, alright, thankfully I have the (2) 2TB drives that I can move everything over to. Thanks for the input :).
 
I migrated to WHS 2011 about 2 years ago and use Covecube (Stablebit) Drive Pool - its great. I use 3x 3TB and 2x 2TB HD's - why not they are so cheap compared to other HW.

Of course MS has decided we need to spend $450+ on Server 2012 but that ain't going to happen to me (not W8 either) - WHS 2011 will be around for a while yet and see us into Windows 9 or 10.
