Data backup software for a NAS?

I have a Synology DS413j and I've been using Data Replicator 3 for a while but am wondering if there are perhaps better options. I tried Synology's Cloud Station, which is supposed to be their new replacement for Data Replicator, but it was practically un-customizable and would only backup data in the user's profile! They may have since fixed that because I think a lot of people complained about it so I may retry it, but I'm still interested in what other software people use for the sole purpose of data backup. Also, real-time monitoring is important so that when a file changes it is backed-up.
