Robot Watch has pictures and video of a wicked looking robot posted today built by the Vinegar Corporation (according to the translation). Either the robot is a music conductor or it is an assassin bot with the world’s smallest light saber. Either way it is pretty cool. For those of you interested, there is a small video of the robot in action too.

And how do you translate that translation into English? :)

That video didn't look to impressive. It wasn't even conducting.

Why do people make humanoid robots? Just design 'em to do the job, imo, not to look human and half-ass the job.

R2D2 > C3PO.

To be honest that video looks 100% digital. lol The robot didn't even look real...

People make plenty of robots that "do the job". Those aren't interesting enough to make [H]ard|OCP news posts, though.

There are some jobs a humanoid robot will work better than one that is strictly utilitarian design. Their aren't that many though...
If you played in an orchestra, and are used to seeing a conductor out of the corner of your eye, would you rather see a human shaped robot or big construction arm conducting you?
Not only does the familiar shape matter, but the facial expressions matter too.

Like I said before, there aren't too many jobs that a humanoid robot can fill. Most of these humanoid designs come out of Japan for a reason. The average age in Japan keeps going up because birth rate is down. In the near future there won't be as many younger adults filling certain jobs. If there is a high demand for healthcare workers, and not enough people trained to fill those positions, make a humanoid robot to the trivial tasks like changing sheets and delivering meals.

Last week or this week Sci-Fi channel on cable had a movie named Manticore? It was futuristic and the robots were police, this robot looks similar.

Screw that. I'm getting ready for the revolution. I got 4 years worth of vienna sausages, canned peaches, water, Spam, and enough rounds of ammo to kill theses robots 4 times over should they rise against us.

What if the robots are immune to vienna sausages, canned peaches, water, Spam, and ammunition?
