OK This thing is really pissing me off, Im only able to hit 2.6GHz I have the corsair XMS 3200XLPRO. I lowered the latencys to 2.5-3-3-7 and I put the multiplyier to 11.5 and teh FSB to 226 also 1.6Volts. I cant seem to get any higher without getting errors in prime95 and it really pisses me off because I payed like 700 dollars for this chip and then another d00d who buys a 3200+ gets hihger than me.

Does anyone have any suggestions? my temps are 37C idel and 41C full load, Im on XP-120 and artic silver 5.

more voltage......thats what it needs....did the guy with the 3200+ say what his voltage was at?
 
Perhaps your memory is to blame, as your PC3200 is at 452 mhz, quite a bit over spec. Run memtest86 and see if you get errors. You can also place a divider to see if it is your memory.

Just keep in mind that not all chips overclock the same. I'm not trying to be an ass, but why did you get the 4000+ if you planned to overclock?
 
Yeah I wasn't really planning to OC that much, but I thought it would hit 2.7 easily.... But I think more volts is what I need, What do you think are safe volts to get to 2.7? and Im sure it aint my memory cause I get no errors and also if I put my multiplyier down I can get the FSB all the way up to 232 without errors.
 
wow..... 700 bucks!! i would've gotten an fx-55 if i would've spent that much.. hehe anyways.. i think it is the memory and you probably need more voltages...
 
OK well the thing is when I did get this, I wasn't planning on overclocking, so I went for a 4000+ and then my aquamark03 scores were pretty low around 66,984 so I htought I would need to overclock, so I got my video card (6800GT) all the way up to 406core and 1.1mem and I hit the wall with my CPU at 2.6GHz. Snd Im still getting around 69,258 my goal is to reach 70000 or more, so can you guys help me? what should I do to reach 70000?

and Im not sure if it is the ram, because I can lower the multipliyer to 11 and it will go 232 and if I higher the multiplyier to 11.5 it goes to 226 highest. and on 12 I think its like 214 or something.
 
DARN THIS STUPID THING! ok so Ive got it up to 1.675 volts and still I get the error

rounding was 0.5 expected less than 0.4 WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?! god im pissed right now. I tried the divider and still no luck.
 
dude.... if your cpu plays games stable... it's not the cpu... put your memory ALL the way down... to stock or something.... and run the cpu at the highest or current clocks and test again with prime95 again...
 
OK so this is what I got so far

Multipliyer 12x

FSB 220

1.650 volts

2.5-3-3-7 latencys

2:1 (DDR 200) divider

for a grand total of 2.64GHz and a 70,025 in aquamark03

anyway... try turning the htt multiplier down to 4x or 3x and re-try the memory in 1:1.
 
I think thats pretty good on air man. Thats what i think is holding you down now.
 
ahhhhh thank very much... :p i am glad that worked.... but if ya want a higher score.... bump up ur memory a bit and fsb too....... just chnage the multiplier down or something

I swear to god thats the only reson I choose the 4000+ over anything else, because it has 1MB cache. So instead of a 3800+ I coughed up like 70 bucks and got my 4000+
 
I don't mean to be an ass, but like another user mentioned, if you are willing to spend 700$ for a 4000+ why not just add 100$ more to get the top of the line kick ass FX-55.
 
I woulda tried to save another $100 for the FX-55, but then again that 4000+ might have broke the bank as it is, so if you struggled to get that by itself, then that I can understand :p That and you said you diddn't PLAN on overclocking....but now you see what happens? You can't come into these forums with something you think is fast, because someone is going to show you it's not :) I know, because it happened to me lol.

If you can do it now return that 4000+, grab a 3200+ and some good air cooling. I'm hitting 80k aqua's and 14.5k 3d03's with a 3200+ and a 6800 gt on bad water (which is about the same as really nice air cooling). Hell, with the excess money you can even buy a used phase change and pop that thing to 2.8-2.9 if you're lucky, or just get nice WC.
 
right now Im just gonna save up for Water cooling and then see how much I can take my CPU up.

OK but I did something but Im not sure if it is better than before or worse,

Im on a 10x multiplyier and 241FSB its around 2.42GHz
 
Good air is about equal to water cooling, and you can really estimate what you're going to get on WC by what you're getting right now .. maybe adding 100 mhz at most. The thing about a64's is that they don't scale as well on WC as p4's, basically WC is like air to them, and its only when you get into the sub-ambient temps is when they scale more.

Um, my A64 3500+ @ stock clocks with 6800 GT @ 435/1.10 I broke 71,000 in Aquamark 3. For your 4000+ to not do it is kind of bizarre.

Make sure you are using the 61.34 drivers for AQ3 runs.
 
what cooling isx your 6800GT on? I cant get mine past 406MHz and 1.1GHz

I volt modded it but its like 53Cidel

Sounds like you dont water cool.....
 
good air does not match watercooling at all... good air will get u about 40-45c on load.. watercooling gets u about 32c if not lower..

the point i got was that A64's dont really do any differnt on 32c vs 45c only when it gets in like 10C and lower do they wanna work
