Just bought an E1705 with Core 2 Duo 667 CPU and the high res 1900 WUXGA true bright screen.
Everything is great with the laptop, save battery life, but there are 2 minor dark spots on the LCD, one in each of the very bottom corners. The one on the bottom right is the worst-a good quarter of an inch wide and about half as tall.
Not by coincidence (?) my son has the same dark area on his E1705 as well, only his is a lower res screen, WXGA.
Mine has a full 4 year next day in home warranty plus accidental breakage warranty as well.
The dark areas are fully transparent and are definitely very noticeable when the screen is directly in front of your eyes but less noticeable if your put your eye directly in front of it. My old 9300 with the same size but lower res screen had a very faint dark spot as well in the same location but it was barely noticeable vs this one which is much worse.
Question: Is this normal? If I call Dell, will their repair person replace the screen?
