I have a danner pump. I want to sound proof the pump but I am curious how important is airflow. Im thinking of enclosing it in foam. Will this cause the pump to get hot? Perhaps I will need to water cool my pump.
Instead of going through all of that hassle, why not run the pump submerged? That technically watercools your pump. Sure it adds a tiny bit of heat to your system, but a good rad will get rid of that.
What i did with mine was fill all the hollow portions of the mount they supply with silicone. After it dried I attached a piece of rubber garage door bottom (real dense rubber/foam) and that took away all vibration.
If you have some scrap tubing laying around, it can reduce vibrations a lot. Attach two sections horizontally (like skis) with some silicone or screws. Unless you're using super ridged tubing, it should work very well. I've done it with some 3/8" ID tygon, and it completely removed vibrations from the pump to the case.
If the danner can be screw mounted, get those vibration dampeners that are used for the eheim 1250. i don't know the link, but I bet someone here does.
Sounds like you just have it laying there? The base it comes with has 4 holes for mounting. Pad that mount underneat and fasten it to the case, i put grommets in the holes too. I think unless it is actually attached to something it will continue to vibrate.
Velcro is the easiest and probably the best shock mounting for it, plus it is cheap and you can take it off very easily, but it is still held in there very solidly. I cant hear my pump, only the HDDs.
