This was my first experiance with water cooling a PC. After alot of research, I was hoping to get ahold of a "kit" that would mostly eliminate the headaches of piecing together a homebrew water cooling rig.
I recently purchased a dangerden Maze4 kit, along with a set of maze4 "SLI" blocks in the kit package as well. The SLI kit included OCZ ramsinks to replace the stock sink to allow room for hoses to have clearance, and I assume enhanced cooling. Seems as though the kit didn' t fit very well on my XFX 6800GT cards (I think is a refrence style board?), as there was no clearance for the tubing at all.
I ended up taking the two top ramsinks off completely after a failed attempt at bending the fins back...
I put in a call to dangerden last saturday (day of install) after running into this problem, and also finding that most of the directions on their site did not match the parts they sent me. Left message didn't get any response so far.
Is my card "different" is far as layout of memory than most, or just a refrence board? Are there lower profile ramsinks that you would reccomend I use to cool the 2 chips at the top of the card? do you really need ramsinks on the memory? I haven't had any lockups so far, but just curious. Has anyone here purchased wither of these kits and had simmilar experiances? Overall I am very happy with the performance of the kit so far, and am looking forward to more watercooling projects in the future....
Thanks in advance for the advice and feedback!
