I just ordered a Maze 4 from Danger Den. I put it on my video card, attached everything, etc. I clamped the tubing down to the barbs. I made sure it had enough water. Although when I started it up it started to leak. I double checked the tubing on the video card. It was fine but then I looked closer at the Maze 4. One of the barbs was damaged :mad: . This was ordered new and I never had this problem with Danger Den. My video card is now ruined anyone have any ideas on their RMA policies or had a problem like this? :confused: I need help desperately because I don't have a computer and lost my 6800gt (which wasn't cheap).
 
Um why didnt you leak test? Did you inspect the barbs when you installed it? I'm really sorry about it screwin up your vid card tho. That sucks. I have no idea what their RMA process is like...maybe you could call them or email them?
 
don't be suprised if they wont replace your card.

watercooling is dangerous business, you knew what you were getting into before you even ordered the thing.

There isn't much you can do, you pretty much brought this on yourself.
 
Man, that really stinks. I'm really sorry to hear that your card is damaged. :( Maybe you can just get a cheapie and wait for prices to come down :confused:
 
I'd ask you why you didnt leak test first, but i think someone else covered that. Assumed risk always sucks when you end up on the losing side. Two options - weasel and lie your way through the rma department (not cool), or write it off as a very expensive learning experience. If youre not too disheartened, i say go ahead and continue pursuing water cooling, its well worth it.

No I did leak test, its just when I put it in the computer the tubing was bent a little which put stress on the barb which might have augmented the crack. Before this bend everything was fine. And I have water cooled things before. I just added this one thing which had messed up.
 
Tip: Leak test with the system installed. Testing outside may seem a good way to test, but as you have learned, when installing it, something got damaged. Testing with it already install almost guarantees nothing will come lose or damaged because you're not moving it around and such. Jump wire the PSU and don't run the rest of the components. This way if it leaks, they're not on with juice running through and taking a chance it shorts. If you can't jump wire you can buy one of these.

Yeah - it's good to move the lines around during the leak test, all over really, get all the air out of the blocks and make sure that you don't have any "marginal" spots (weak spots), which would imply don't leak test with the blocks on the cards... It's a PITA but it's worth it. That really sucks man... but look at the bright side, now you have a really good reason to upgrade to a 7800 series card! :)

LOL..................I've got one of those plug jumpers.............I got mine for free, but I use it all the time................ :eek:
 
heh... I got one with my koolance. but I still used a paper clip 'cause I didn't see that I had gotten it with the "packege" until after the leak test... doh!

Hey my Aqua Computer Aquastream pump came stock with one of those so don't laugh. A paperclip works the best though. :D

Watercooling is growing past the deviant and many people who don't know the tricks of the trade are going into watercooling which is starting to cause problems. Coolermaster is putting stuff out now that evidently has used crap plastics in manufacture as they have been cracking from the use of common watercooling chemicals. Also been hearing reports of their O-rings disintegrating as well. :eek:

I think that's a good point... more and more water cooling is going on, becoming almost main stream (no aquious pun intended) which means a greater amount of people with leaking issues, etc... perhaps mfgs should test their products more thoroughly... and we should remind people to steer clear of cheaply made cooling kits... also people need to be reminded of the risks involved, and the importance of proper leak testing...
 
Update if anyone cares... Uh actually I was really scared when I saw water on my water card, but that didn't kill the card. It was actually worse. It seems that water on the card made me jump to the conclusion that my card was killed by water. This was caused by I tiny spill when i was pouring the water in. That is not the reason, the Maze 4 never made contact with the chip. This burned it out, but whatever I'll probably get 10 more posts on leak testing...
 
i had that issue with my maze4, left the ram sinks i guess? (i had to do this to mine: systems down so i put stock cooler on for show)
note that i had to bust a few fins off
