Guess I'll share my photos as well...

I was lucky enough to grab one from Casekings.de when the case became available, but only after a stressful 30+ minutes, caseking's website wasn't able to handle the load of all the buyers.

Being out of Windows PCs since 2011, completely switched to Apple because I didn't like the games that came out at that time. That all changed when Doom was released last year. Played Doom on my GT750m macbook with Windows in Bootcamp, then switched to an Asus ROG G752VY-GC067T (i7 with GTX980M/8GB with a 17" 75Hz G-Sync TFT screen). That laptop was able to handle Doom in 1080p with all the graphic options set to Nightmare (where available), but struggled a bit at 1440p 144Hz on my Dell S2716DG monitor - so I opted for a new "game-rig".

Finished! The ATX24pin cables from the PSU to the motherboard can safely be tucked away underneath the PSU, where they don't hinder any air-flow in the case. So let's close the case and configure Windows.

Couldn't be happier with it, it's all I ever dreamed about!

Temperatures are a-ok in a room of ambient 22°C:
  • CPU idle 36°C
  • CPU full-load 72°C
  • GPU idle 40°C
  • GPU full-load 70°C

Don't really have anything else on my planning.
Maybe a bigger 4K monitor w/ G-Sync, The GPU
Or maybe buy a Rift or a Vive - although I believe we'll have to wait until the 2nd or even the 3rd generation to be able to truly have a good VR experience.

This is almost same config of mine. No RGB for me and I am getting the 1080Ti.

And please don't mind, That is the exact color combo of cables I am going for. And much appreciate you giving the cable lengths as well..

What about temps? Fan noise?

Its my pleasure to assist your build m-jeri

Temps are max 78 degrees when running the intel extreme cpu stress test and the noctua fan is probably one of the quietest you can get even at full speed. The only caveat is you will need to delid the 7700K like i did to get this result. If you use the stock 7700K temps will be MUCH higher

Starting the with build as it first came together with stock everything. Photos with an iPhone 6, a few torchlights and white wrapping paper

Cable management is the fun part of the build. These are all the stock Corsair SF450 cables at their normal lengths. The 24 pin forms the centre of the bundle, travelling to the front of the case, before folding back toward the motherboard. The 8 pin CPU power does the same, and then travels down to the bottom of the case. The Sata power cable is folded up in the bottom drive bay frame before coming back out and up to the front of the case. And finally the GPU PCIe power cable is wrapped around the whole bundle twice and holds all the wires together before travelling up behind the PSU.

The power cable was heated at the corners and bent to neatly follow the case contours better. The tricky part of the power cable is fitting it between the SSD and the power button mechanism. There actually isn't much space between the two.

1) Antenna mounting
The H97I Plus did not come with WiFi, but there was a 1/2 PCIe empty, so I added a card and soldered on a mounting plate for the antenna. Actually mounted it inboard 6mm, to reduce how far the antenna stick out the back.

2) LP53 heatsink + Fan mounts.
LP53 mounted, bottom fan mounts added for a 120mm fan. These are aluminium flat pieces bent and shaped to bolt directly into the unused VRM Heatsink holes.

Finally (mostly) done. Only "unique" thing I did was remove the IO panel mosfet heatsink on the Z270I, which greatly reduced my temps combined with removing the IO panel. The A9x14 is attached to the LP53 with rubber bands and zip ties. Rubber bands work really well for this particular combo.

Just need to add in the MOSFET heatsinks I bought, once they arrive. Cablemod lengths are 150mm for the ATX cable, and 300mm for the PCIE and CPU, they all fit with room to spare.

Someone mentioned sticking in some insulating material between the PSU and the rear GPU, because the PSU was heating up and initiating the fans. So I copied that. I just used some of the packing material from the PSU, sliced into a thin slice to fit between the acrylic sheet and the PSU. Not entirely sure this is necessary but I have not heard my PSU fan yet...

My open air test bench, made out of my kids old rocking chair that I never put together because I am a horrible father. I got sick of holding my motherboard to deal with the CPU heatsink, rear m.2 install, mosfet heatsink removals, etc. etc.

Love the look of this. That copper gives it a very clean look. How are the thermals with it?
 
temps stabilized at 75oC under heavy prime 95 load with fan spinning at 1500rpm of it's 2100max in silent fan profie. thats at 4.4ghz OC. At 4.6ghz its at 85oC and its start to thermal throttle at 4.8ghz after 5 min and after 2mins at 5.0ghz but otherwise stable.

I think that is a 40d but I am not sure. That is not my camera. An colleague's of mine. Most of my photos were taken with a IPhone 4, and some with a Panasonic FZ2000. You are right, the lens in the photo is a 70-200L, and it was mine a couple of years ago. I sold it to my work mate while doing The Exodos from DSLRS with huge lenses to cell-phones and bridge cameras. Getting smaller not only in PC-cases.

Hey man, im really interested in your staggered cable lengths for the ATX motherboard cable, do you know the exact lengths? I want to try it out myself.

very nice! I'm considering the SF450 for my 1700/1080ti S1 build and was wondering if you played with undervolting either the cpu or gpu?
 
Max my 1080 armor (not a ti) and 1700 stock has pulled at the wall with vsync off is about 280-300 Watts. Playing the sea of thieves beta with vsync on 60Hz all maxed in settings was 155Watts. I have two hard drives and one ssd also. At the wall measurements btw.

No its all stock. I'm pretty happy as it is right now, under windows its dead silent and while gaming the psu gets noisy but bearable i would say.

Since the psu is clearly the loudest part i ordered another Noctua NF-A9x14 replacing the corsair one.
