Dampening HD Vibration

Hey guys,

I have a Rosewill Thor with a 2tb WD green and a 750 WD Black and one (or both) of the drives are making an obnoxious buzzing sound. The slide out trays that the case uses has the black rubber grommets to dampen noise, but they don't seem to be that effective.

Does anyone have any better ideas on how to reduce that noise? It's currently the loudest thing in my system (unless I crank the case fans to 11)

Open to all suggestions, thanks!

The WD Caviar Black drive is the culprit. I have the same drive. It's fast but you pay for it with the "buzzing" noise which is caused by the fast movement of the read/write head. I am almost regretting it when a WD Blue drive is nearly inaudible and yet disparities in benchmark are negligible.

My solution is to suspend the drive with bungee cord in the dvd drive bay. I think it's as quiet as you will get it. I used the bungees that usually come with various clothing.

There are some options you can try out silencing the drives, check the following links,

Yeah I've read both those links, thanks Abula.

In this picture with the file server, there doesnt appear to be anything on top of the drives... are they just resting there on the elastic?
