Damaged hardware from psu burnout

My 350w power supply burns out and so i've replaced it with a 450w one. But now i get this hanging thing going on when i'm doing stuff. For example, Oblivion was running smooth as hell before but now it's choppy whenever i move( if i don't move, the other npc's seem to run smoothly). And even when i'm clicking on the winamp in my task bar to make it appear and disappear it can take up 100% of my cpu and lags for 3 seconds or so.. Obviously some piece of hardware on my comp is dmged from the faulty psu, i'm just not sure which one. any ideas?

It honestly could be anything, mobo, ram, video/sound cards etc. I know that's not alot of help, but it's true.

Try breaking your system down to the bare minimum and start from there.

You did do a reinstall right? After a failure of that magnitude I would at the least defrag the HD. BTW, what psu are you using? I assume something reliable now...

digital_exhaust - i would rather die than break everything down and start ALL over, my mobo has such a horrible layout and everything is so damn hard to put into place that it took me 5 hours to put it together the first time (and 3 bandaids)
i have however, pretty much done everything except take off the mobo from the case by now, unplugin and replugin everything

operaman - i was using this cheap powmax thing before, i've switched to a coolmax cx series. as for motherboard i'm using an intel PERL something, few years outdated. i've done a new windows install on another HD, it's definitely faster (but then again it's always faster after a fresh windows install rite?). So i don't know... any more suggestions?

Maybe your cmos/bios settings changed as a result of the psu failure and change.

Those mobo batteries don't always preserve the bios settings when installing a new psu.
