Damage to 6950 Unlocked!!???

I have a Sapphire 6950 2gb with unlocked shaders I run it at 900mhz (Core) 1430mhz (Mem) is what I found to be relatively stable...however, I neglected the Power control +20%!!!! I also just ran furmark on the card without power increase for the last hour! And I've gamed over 50+ hours on it this past month without the increase.

Do you think this damaged my card???

I don't really see signs of damage when I use it, I was curious because it would render things really weird in Witcher 2 if i overclocked the core any higher than it was already (like the ground would suddenly permanently rise up to neck level after 5-10 minutes of gameplay).

Are there any signs of damage to look out for or that are classic of this type of error?
 
Don't worry, you didn't damage your card.

I don't think you quite understand what the Power Control does. Setting the Power Control +20% allows your card to draw 20% more power than the standard limits before it throttles the clock speed down to reduce power consumption.

So in effect, you just weren't really getting that 900MHz core speed when you had the card loaded.
 
phew! So when folks on the forums warn about damage if you don't use the power control, those statements are groundless?
 
In effect, PowerTune makes it so that the clock speed is reduced from the original 800 or whatnot to a % of that, until the card's power consumption conforms to some amount, depending on -20%, 0, and +20%, obviously. :p But I've never heard about people getting damage from that, would your card be damaged by running at 900MHz if you set it to 900MHz? IDK, but PowerTune just lets it run at 100% capacity. I bet you could monitor this with Afterburner, by using a challenging benchmark and varying the PowerTune %.

Just my $0.02.
 
To overclock, i downloaded trixx because of the vmod options, but do i need to up the +20% on overdrive as well? People said because the 6970 takes more power and uses 8 pins, and since the 6950 only has 6 pins the +20% is almost a requirement.

Can I overclock past limits (950/1450) if i activate both programs, or do i need to use either one?
