DAC different default sample rates on USB2 and USB3.

I just noticed this today while rearranging devices and USB ports. When my DAC (JDS Labs OL DAC) is plugged into any USB3 port, the default bit depth and sample rate in Windows audio settings is 24/44. When using USB2, the default becomes 24/48. By "default" I mean what it is set to automatically as well as the result of clicking "Restore Defaults."

Is there a reason for this? I suppose this is mostly academic since there doesn't seem to be an issue, but it made me curious.
