DAC / AMP; What Settings?

Hi All. So, this might be a dumb question, but I don't know the answer. I have the Soundblaster X G6 dac/amp combo connected via USB. I run headphones for gaming. I have the G6 set to 5.1 for the virtualization mixer. When given the options in game, do I set the in-game options to stereo? or 5.1?

I believe you would choose stereo/headphone as the Soundblaster is just upmixing the stereo signal to virtual surround.
 
Stereo and Full Range Speakers, no enhancements and then the audio settings to 16bit/44KHz. Thats what I do anyway. I dont use hi-res audio.
