D4 vs. D5

yes, my d4 definatly had a high pitched wine to it. the ouput control on the d5 is a nice addition as well.

I've got a D4 pinned for 7 volts in one box. It's infinitely louder than my new machine with a D5 running full blast.

i know but 2db is quiter than 3db .... exactly how much quiter is it... should i go through the trouble of switching?

well, do you not mind the noise from the D4 now? or is it bad? cause the D5 is DEAD silent from what i hear. im thinking of upgrading eventually.

D4 is on the way .. bought it from a nice fellow here on the forum but i've read it has a bit of a whine to it .. he ran it 50/50 antifreeze and said he didn't notice it as "loud" but his tolerance may be higher than mine ... I think if I were patient could probably swap it in the forums and not be out much at all.

I had the D4 and after awhile I couldnt stand the whine anymore. I swear I could hear it in my dreams.

Then I got the MCP-655 (D5) and it is one of the best upgrades I have ever done and I just went to dual core and 2 gigs of ram :)

Cant hear it at all. Love the thing!!!
