Just wanted to bring some attention to some shady bait and switch action being performed by D-Link.

I personally own a D-Link GO-SW-8GE Rev B1. Excellent unmanaged switch, picked up for $19.99 a couple months ago. Pretty much you're getting a DGS-108, but without the lifetime warranty.

Starting with Rev C1 and newer, D-Link has completely changed the design. It's now appears like some off-brand POS.

Anyway - was going to pick up another GO-SW-8GE on Newegg today for $19.99, but it looks like folks are getting Rev C1 as reflected in the feedback and are none too happy since it it totally different.

In summary -
Shame on Newegg for not updating the picture to reflect the current shipping product.
Shame on D-Link for releasing a good product then (after getting some good reviews), totally replacing it with something different and calling it a "revision".

Just my public service announcement.

its not a bait and switch if it is a new revision, that's like saying that getting a new xbox 360 slim is bait and switch because its a new revision of the old xbox 360 and is still labeled as xbox 360 in stores.

This is a poor analogy.

You are both technically right. It is more bait and switch on Newegg's part since they are showing the earlier revision and not telling people they are buying the newer revision. I don't see that its bait and switch on D-Link's part since they clearly label their part numbers on the boxes, UPC codes, and on the product itself. Shitty move by D-Link, but not bait and switch.

Sorry some folks disagreed with my post. Maybe "bait and switch" wasn't the best choice of words.

Just trying to keep people informed.

Do you even know what 'bait and switch' means? By definition, Newegg would have to advertise said D-link switch, then when you try to buy they would tell you it's unavailable and start pressuring you into a higher priced/different product.

A revision change is not bait and switch. If that were the case, any electronic end item could potentially be a 'bait and switch' tactic since most electronics go through many 'revisions' through its lifecycle.

Appreciate the information, but make sure you call it what it is.

Sounds like they baited people with the B1 pictures and description then switch it out with the C1 or whatever version when they ship it out... Sort of a bait and switch if you will although maybe not in the classic sense of the term.
