D&D Adventure Game

Oblivion is less of an RPG and more of an action type game. Bethesda's approach of 'go anywhere, do anything' translates into 'few consequences'. Plus the scaled enemies really kill the game. You can apply mods to change the leveled enemies and so on (there are hundreds of mods) but YMMV as to whether or not you'll like them. IMHO Morrowind is the better game but both MW and OB break around level 15 or whenever you start maxing out skills and get the best weps/armor.

They're good games and I love the art direction of MW and the beauty of OB, but both are deeply flawed. With that said, each game is good for several hundred hours of enjoyment and that's a nice accomplishment in and of itself.

The best aspect of the Temple of Elemental Evil is that its not set in the forgotten realms. Hurrah! If only more D&D games were like that.

Ahem.. Planescape, best game ever. Also not in a faerun type world

There was also a Raveloft game...but I didn't get to play with that one very much:(

Baldurs Gate, Neverwinter, Planescape are all a part of the same D&D world. Faerun is just a continent which most of the games take place in and for some reason, they keep taking place around one area in that continent. True that Planescape is not physically in Faerun though.

Hopefully Atari hired some of the guys who made this game to work on BG3.
ToEE had nice art and graphics and the combat was perfectly executed. Only bad thing to say about the game is it's short (I beat it in 20-25 hours) and mostly a dungeon crawl, not like the epic BG games.
