what are other ways to cut a rad grill if you dont have a dremel?

got any video of this? wanna see it first make sure im doing it right..dont wanna mess up.=) its gonna be a 2x120mm grill

Drill a pilot hole and then use a nibbler. (if you want to be really slow and precise without the use of power tools for the cutting)

im afraid with the nibble that it will bend the aluminum. i have a jigsaw but wont it be hard to cut the edge where the tabs...where its used to mount the fans?

A nibbler won't bend it. It slices little bits off at a time.

i know your a crazy good modder w1retap...do you have any pictures of a cut out rad grill i cant find the one i saw...=)

Are you wanting to cut out the area for one? If so, I don't have any pictures of the one I cut out.. I don't think. The only one I can find is this old old one:

You can sort of see the underside where I cut out a space for my radiator. I used a dremel tool. But there's plenty of pictures on these forums of people that cut out their radiator hole and documented it. Just look around in the worklog sub-forum.

Turned out well for my lanbox:

should eject the chips as you cut. i have occasionally had a chip jam in it. especially while cutting aluminum. have to pound on it to pop the chip out some times when that happens.

The cost of a Dremel vs all the extra labor is a deal...

You can use a drill with a Abrasive Cut Off Wheel and Arbor like a Dremel does if you have a drill.. It will cut much slower but have more power..

If you have no tools try HarborFreight.com for a drill and arbor with cut off wheel..

These tools are fine for a computer mod hobbiest...
