Custom Wooden Case

What I'm planning on doing for the bottom is have a small chamber that connects to the rest of the case with all the components. There will be two fans blowing air upward to the components from this chamber. To draw the air from outside, I was thinking something like this:

I'd just have an oval type opening on each sidewith some type of filter to allow the air to enter the case. The case will be made out of oak wood, and will be stained a goldenish color. I'm thinking the filters should be black.

What do you guys think? If it just doesn't look good, I could just put the filter in the back where it won't be seen. Or I'd just ditch the idea completely.

i thought about something like that same idea a while back. never got off my lazy ass to build, and the next thing i know, i don't to the wood shop anymore.

Also for mounting the motherboard, I think I'm just going to use some plexiglass. For drive mounts, I was thinking either more plexi, or some thin plywood with longer screws.

Right now I just have to think about this bottom chamber and if I'm going to do it or not. I'll be starting this on monday probably

If I do this, any ideas on what I could use for a filter?

Actually for the drive mounts, I'm going to see if I can get some metal cheap. I got some free plexy (I think 1/8 of an inch thick. Maybe it's 3/16) so I'll probably still use the plexy for the mobo mount, but I think the metal will make it a lot easier to screw in the drives since it's so thin and more durable than wood.
