i have 4.1 surround sound and since my computer isnt in a small room. and i need the space. the rear speakers are basically worthless. they sit on top of my moniter but they do make sound. i decided i want my rear speakers ot be in the rear. so being the car person i am thought baout the S2000 seats and head rest mounted speakers. i want ot mount my speakers ot my chair. problem is they are wired. so i ifgure if i take and lengthen the wire the speakers have. install them how i likei n the chair and run the wire down the legs and to a quick connector. basically like the male and female parts already on speaker system and in back of comptuer. so i haev a way to conenct. other part is running it from back of computer. on carpet with duct tape holding it in place and protecting it. with enough slack on chair and computer side for minimum chair movement but still will pop off if chair is pulled too far.

my question is does this sound reasonable and does my idea for the quick connector sound ok.

i have drawn a ghetto paint diagram of what im visualizing and also have digital pics of my computer area+chair.

one thing i havent thought of is how ot attache the speakers to the chair. i dont want to cut holes in it and stuff cuz its leather and wasnt cheap iw as thinking of some sort of strap while leaving htem in the stock little boxes.

IDEAS HERE WOULD BE NICE

I got blind-squirrel-finding-a-nut lucky in having the speakers face out like the front ones when the arms are folded back in - couldn't have planned that if I tried.
Just got a little aluminim stock at Home Depot and made some oak brackets to go with the desk. The black end caps were in the same section as the stock, I drilled them out for the wires. Had to desolder the wires inside the case to snake it all through, and then soldered them back on. This worked out better than I could have hoped.

I knew I saw this done before!

You might want to contact that user with any questions, he seems to have done a good job with his. His worklog is down, as is his website, but he may still have the details for you.

~Hope this helps a bit

PS, TimKLL, nice job! My only worries would be the speakers put to much torque on the hinge/bracket. Is this a concern with yours?

The satellites/rear speakers are very light and the brackets are very herky. Lots of wood screws and glue, and some pretty large size mounting screws. I was concerned about this and built it to prevent problems.
