About 18 months ago, I found a tutorial to help me build a custom cable that powered 6 drives off of one molex connection. (essentially an unsleeved version of this with more connections)

I'm doing another build, and I've been unable to find instructions on how to do this. I'm pretty sure I remember how, but I'd rather be certain than risk having an issue with power in my new machine. Would any of you be able to outline the instructions or just point me to a doc somewhere online?

pick is going from SATA to molex, but you get the idea, 3 pins 12V, 3 pins ground, 3 pins 5V, 3 pins ground, 3.3V pins not needed

My apologies, I linked the wrong cable from performance pcs and I've edited the original post to correct this.

The cable I want is multiple molex 4pin connections. I remember removing them from one cable somehow, and then re-attaching them on a new, longer cable at the spacing I needed. That's all I remember though.

I can help you with the cable you need and can make it for you if you like but I need to be clear on a few things:

1) You say you need a 4 pin molex for each device? Wouldn't you need the SATA connections for SATA drives? Why not make a proper SATA chain instead?

2) Assuming you want to stick with 4 pin Molex connectors, you will need the following:

Don't forget wire. You'll need 18 AWG strnded wire, such as UL-1007 from Amazon and a set of crimpers to physically connect the male pins above to the wire.
