Ok i got the mouse now i want to make my own pad. Using aluminum then polish it. But well a optical mouse work on a polish metal?

Ps, Sorry if i put it in the wrong place but it has to do with a mouse pad so thats why i put it here.

I think there is a reason why most mats/pads/etc have dark surfaces.

polished aluminum wont work due to the optics screwing up.

theres a small chance that brushed aluminum might work. doubt it though....

not sure.... but why not just use a ratpadz
Ratpadz aren't good mousepads unfortunately. To return to the topic, SteelPad mousepads are anodized aluminum, so the surface is a matte black and therefore not reflective. They work with most brands of mice. I bet if you had your metal powder coated or something of that nature the tracking would be acceptable. Definitely something you would want to test through before you shelled out the money for a custom poder coat.

the original ratpadz had it's problems with some mouse including my newest but my ratpadz GS is going into it's 2nd year of duty and still works awesome!!.. it's been to many lans with including qcon..

Imo a self-made pad will have problems with optical mice.
If you really want a good alu pad, get a Steelpad 4D(3D). I think it's better to have a good pro pad than something hand-made.
