We currently run Awstats and a couple other log analysis applications on our web server, but I'm wanting to work up a more custom approach. My hope was to use a PHP charting solution like jpChart to put a couple specific metrics together in a web app.
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on where the log file would reside (I admit I'm not sure where Awstats gets the data from). I've never really done any work with logging, but for this particular scenario it'd be easier for me to just put a chart in an admin area than have the users login to cPanel and get their metrics through there.
This would be a general WHM install on a Linux web server... nothing fancy... is there a default log location that I might check first? I'd imagine it's comma delimited or something, and I could just build an array with the data to generate the chart, but as I have yet to locate the log file, I'm not sure what I'm going to find...
