ok gang. im hoping to go to watercooled here soon but im wanting to have an external unit. im just wondering how difficult/costly it would be to build a custom external rig. ive been looking for some small pc cases or electronics cases to house the unit. im just wondering if this is feesable or what you guys think about this idea. any ideas on cases and the internal components are very welcome, gimme what you got. im looking to stick in the $300-350 price range. if this doesnt work out or seems too much of a hassle ill prolly just go with the koolance exos system.

thanks guys

You want a nice sturdy box that you can drill in to to attach components. You might also want to look into quick disconnents if you ever want to move your PC. Other than that, it's really really simple. Take your same basic parts, put them in a small box with ports for in and out for water.

This is a really great way to do it if you have space problems, because it's a lot easier to find a nice big cheap auto heatercore and fit it into a external box.

Exos will be much less hassle. 1/2" ID won't go through case opening... you will have to cut it.
If you want to experiment with design, I suggest cardboard box size of baby diaper box :p Works well to figure out how it will get done. I recommend high head pump since there will be long lines where in case setup wouldn't.

I made palstic reservoir out of air tight cookie jar, eheim 1250 (would recommend better pump), 2 120 mm fan pulling and pushing air back and front of the box, heatercore shrouded (you won't need one if you decide to block out all airflow around the heatercore inside the box), etc. Decent temp but having that long 2 m total of line didn't help temp as much as I thought with eheim 1250 and 3 blocks. I would say go with higher head pump and make the line a little shorter. quite frankly, exos is easier...

This seller sold mine. I had CPU-300G + GPU 180G (newer blocks) with it shipped for about $230 (with exos of course) brand new. Awesome seller and I highly recommend getting one at that price... :p

I just used a sturdy Tupperware type tub that I bought at Target for around $10. Works well and easy to move.

Kind of hard to beat this clean look :p
